Allows you to work very well with more than one ruby installation, just like\u00a0App::perlbrew for perl.<\/p>\n

The rvm<\/span> command is implemented through a lot of bash functions.<\/p>\n

The PragProg ruby3<\/a> and the jruby book<\/a> both talk about rvm<\/span>, and it looks, as if rvm<\/span> is really quite helpful, if \u00a0you deal with more than one ruby interpreter.<\/p>\n

I installed rvm<\/span> locally on an openSUSE-11.3 system and also remotely (git-based), and also on Mac OS X 10.6.6 (not git-based (yet)).<\/p>\n

Update 2011-02-22:
\nOutput from my $HOME\/.bashrc<\/span> disturbed the smooth execution of rvm<\/span>, I had to remove that output (although I really liked that).<\/p>\n

Update 2011-07-15 \u2013 how to upgrade:
$ rvm get stable<\/span>
$ rvm reload<\/span>
$ rvm list known<\/span>
$ rvm list<\/span>
$ rvm install jruby-1.6.99999<\/span>
$\u00a0rvm install ruby-1.9.99999<\/span>
$\u00a0<\/span>rvm all do gem install xml-simple<\/span>
$ \u2026<\/span><\/p>\n

\nUpdate 2012-01-\u2026 \u2013 trouble with “get head”!!!<\/p>\n

\n$ rvm get head #\u00a0<\/span>looks broken, avoid it for the time being!
\nThis really caused me a lot of grief and fear.<\/p>\n

$ rvm get stable #\u00a0<\/span>better for me<\/p>\n
