How often did I only abandon this idea, because it wasn&#8217;t that easy to install Oracle DB on Suse Linux\u2026<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Amongst the various choices I went for the &#8220;<em>Database App Development VM<\/em>&#8221; (still valid and unchanged on 2014-11-12):<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.oracle.com\/technetwork\/database\/enterprise-edition\/databaseappdev-vm-161299.html\">http:\/\/www.oracle.com\/technetwork\/database\/enterprise-edition\/databaseappdev-vm-161299.html<\/a>\u00a0(still valid and unchanged on 2014-11-12, but they say, they updated the document in September, so it may also be reasonable to download the &#8220;appliance&#8221; again)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Oracle\u00a0Enterprise Linux 6 account details: Username and password is <strong>oracle<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>And this very nice software will run on the very nice and fat Mac mini due to arrive tomorrow resp. on Wednesday. The &#8220;<em>Oracle DB VM<\/em>&#8221; will have its own and separate IP address on the LAN, that way the Oracle DB server will just be available on the LAN \u2013 w\/o any restrictions because of its VM environment.
