But I didn&#8217;t know, how and which monitor I would attach, so that&#8217;s what I have to solve on my 2nd related visit at the shop. I am rather hot to see it booting soon.<\/p>\n<p>Unnecessary:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>I should not have purchased the mega-sized AVM wifi dongle.<\/li>\n<li>I should have found out before (at least before getting the converter), how to connect the Pi to monitors.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>\nUpdate 2013-12-08:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>got me more HDMI-DVI-adpaters yesterday, with cables,<\/li>\n<li>should have gotten me a USB hub as well, as there are only 2 USB plugs,<\/li>\n<li>well, the USB mouse went into the (playstation2) keyboard,<\/li>\n<li>the EDIMAX wifi dongle found its plug,<\/li>\n<li>got it booted,<\/li>\n<li>got it connected via LAN to the Internet,<\/li>\n<li>got wifi set up through WPS.<\/li>\n<li>had to stop my experiments in favour of son#2.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div>\nThis IS different to KDE and GNOME:<\/div>\n<div>\n<ul>\n<li>(apparently) you cannot set up the date\/time format centraly,<\/li>\n<li>even not the timezone.<\/li>\n<li>you also cannot set up the virtual desktops in a grid.<\/li>\n<li>\u2026<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div>\nBut it IS Linux \/ Unix, and it is X-Windows, and it connects to the Internet, and there is a modern browser, \u2026<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>I created a separate &#8220;bookmark article&#8221; on Java SE on the Raspberry Pi, cf. the &#8220;Raspberry Pi&#8221; label on this blog<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Raspberry_Pi Conrad @ Berlin, Sch\u00f6neberg [link] http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Debian_Wheezy http:\/\/www.raspberrypi.org\/ I found a cooperative employee at the Conrad branch, who got me all the things I needed, including Wheezy on an SD card.
