In the <em>X Window<\/em> environment a few rules were always taken for granted:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>the (input) focus is always, where the mouse points<\/li>\n<li>you select text, and\u00a0 it&#8217;s immediately in the copy+paste buffer<\/li>\n<li>you can paste text with &#8220;<em>Control+Insert<\/em>&#8221; or through pressing the middle mouse button<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>With KDE (and Gnome) things changed\u00a0 &#8212; they adopted rules from the other worlds as the Mac, DOS and Windows.<\/p>\n<p>So <em>Konsole<\/em> unlike <em>xterm<\/em> forced me to &#8220;<em>Control+Shift+C<\/em>&#8221; for\u00a0 getting a text I\u00a0 selected into the copy+paste buffer. I hated that. So for many years I preferred using <em>xterm<\/em> within the KDE world &#8212; I also did not appreciate the advantages of <em>Konsole<\/em> over <em>xterm<\/em>. Eventually I did. And I (sort of) got used to that bitter burden, that <em>Konsole<\/em> put on my shoulders \ud83d\ude06 .<\/p>\n<p>Yesterday I saw somebody copying text from <em>Konsole<\/em> to another window &#8212; and\u00a0 that was way too\u00a0 fast in my eyes &#8212; he did not &#8220;<em>Control+Shift+C<\/em>&#8221; the text into the copy+paste buffer, and when I asked him, how he achieved that, he told me, it has always been like that. Alright. &#8230; . Maybe &#8220;his always&#8221; only started like 3 years ago &#8212; I wasn&#8217;t cheeky enough to ask. Trust me: I do like picking up new shortcuts and ways of achieving goals.
