Mac OS X iWorks (Pages, Numbers, Keynote): they are ZIP files containing obscure “.iwa” files

Apparently huge XML files previously contained within those ZIP files got split up and compressed (but how???), and these pieces are now called “.iwa“. That was in favour of mobile devices working on partial files “in the cloud”. I have no plans working with spreadsheets “in the cloud”.

I prefer being able to read my spreadsheet’s details, but with these “.iwa” I can’t.

I think I am going to keep my spreadsheets as OpenOffice / LibreOffice files from now on.
