got my Polar V800 replaced the second time – “backplane swollen” / “back case swells” (because of battery)

Actually I didn’t notice exactly that the backplane was swollen at all, I only noticed the frontplane was misted from inside, and I couldn’t clearly read the display any longer, and that situation did not get better by itself through a couple of weeks. “Rückplatte geschwollen” is the problem description I found in the communication between my local dealer and Polar – and my local dealer was nice enough to hand it out to me, when I urged them politely.

So this is now my 3rd V800. #1 and #2 seemed rather identical, #3 looks slightly different:

  • the adaptor and charger interface at its back now got a rubber cap
  • (I will add more, once I will notice anything)

These forum threads (in German) are talking about the same problem:

I seriously hope, #3 will work for rather long and will not suffer from the “swollen backplane” syndrome at all – otherwise what will I do with it, once it drops out from its warranty? resp. how will Polar react then?
So far they reacted rather obliging.

  1. How das the second generation V800 hold up?

    I switched from M400 to V800 today and I’m a little bit scared 😀
Andy tipps to prevent corrosion? Cap open overnight when not wearing?

      I am wearing my V800 almost 7×24.
But you are right, the connector does not look well. I will give it a drop of oil and a massage with a q-tip.
