I had no idea, my Apple Watch connects to my router, until I found a device by the name of “Watch” on my router’s list of actively connected devices.
Its MAC address is “Private / Randomized”. That did not help to find its maker.
But then I asked Google “AI mode”:
does my “Apple Watch SE 3 (GPS)” maintain a wifi connection to my router?
And here is the answer:
I cannot imagine, my iPhone and my Apple Watch are outside Bluetooth reach. I switched off the WiFi connection in my Apple Watch’s “Control Center”, and the Bluetooth connection got reestablished instantly. The WiFi connection consumes more energy than the Bluetooth connection. So now maybe my Apple Watch battery lives a little longer, before it needs recharging.
