“pickup artists” AKA PUA
Pickup artists (PUA), self-identified as dating coach, seduction community, or pickup community, is a movement of men whose goal is seduction and sexual success with women. The community exists through Internet newsletters and blogs, marketing (e.g. banner ads, seminars, one-on-one coaching), forums and groups, as well as over a hundred local clubs, known as “lairs”.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pickup_artistI was on my way in public transport a couple of weeks ago, with a (male) friend (that I am not attracted to erotically) (“Jens”) on my way back from our duty Wednesday evening talking round. After Jens saw me interacting verbally with another passenger, that we both had not known before, he brought up the term PUA (actually he identified me as PUA with rather some admiration). I had never come across that term in my life, and I almost forgot it. Only today I looked the thing up, and here we are.
Should I make “people” (likely to be in danger) aware of the fact? I actually don’t think I am on a very high level of proficiency yet. But then that may result from a bad self-assessment.

my occasional motor problems, my MacBook, my accidental macOS upgrade, time machine
Last night my occasional motor problems regarding my fingers made me supposedly type some keyboard shortcut, that caused to colour scheme flip to something I wasn’t able to reverse without restarting the MacBook. I sort of hated that. But I did so. During the shutdown process macOS asked me, whether I would agree to include the OS update, and I did so. But it did not say, what that would be. But when it finally turned out take a little longer, I knew exactly, I was in the Catalina upgrade trap again. My Fink software has hindered me for a while to “welcome” that upgrade, even to fall back to Mojave once. And as it turned out, I was upgrading to Catalina (now unwillingly) once again. Luckily enough after the last time I had properly set up Time Machine on this MacBook, and after connecting the MacBook to the network via Ethernet instead of WiFi it was an easy piece of cake. Going through the experience took my a couple of hours, but apparently I am fine right now. I am quite grateful.
