but yes, sometimes my wrist watch tells me, I should finally move again – apparently I did not move for an hour or so. but that does not happen too often.

how to create a series letter in 2019
you want to create letters from a “contacts database” sitting in a Google spreadsheet (or similar), right?! (because that looks sexy, right?!)
that’s called “series letter”. for decades people have been doing that using software.
what I want to tell you is this: do not get anybody to write software for you to do that. that already exists – do not create software, that already exists, don’t be stubborn and create something that suits your needs just a little / “far” better than the implementations, that already exist. that is called “not invented here”:don’t do it like that!!! this is “the right way”:
- create a “list” for the group / set of people, that you want to address,
- put them all on “BCC” (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blind_carbon_copy) (that’s really important – most of the time they must not see each other),
- address yourself as “To”,
- and write an e-mail as you would “in the first place”!
how to create that list?
Google Mail:- create “yet another” “label” in your Google Contacts,
- use that label for each of them,
- go to that label,
- select “all of them”,
- select “send e-mail”,
- move “them all” to BCC,
- …
too simple? too inexpensive? alright, buy me a pizza or two! you need to spend more money?
too difficult? let’s go through all the steps together next time we meet!
uuuuuuh, you don’t want to “give Google” all those valuable addresses? alright, what about Posteo?
do you know anybody with a Posteo address? go and ask them! create you address book there!
don’t keep your address book as spreadsheet, that’s old-school, that causes lots of work, that causes pain, that is just not the way to do it, “That’s (not) the way to do it!“

Benjamin E. Mays: goals, dreams, stars, …
It must be borne in mind that the tragedy of life doesn’t lie in not reaching your goal. The tragedy lies in having no goal to reach. It isn’t a calamity to die with dreams unfulfilled, but it is a calamity not to dream. It is not a disaster to be unable to capture your ideal, but it is a disaster to have no ideal to capture. It is not a disgrace not to reach the stars, but it is a disgrace to have no stars to reach for. Not failure, but low aim is sin.

IM clients and deleting conversations
- https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WhatsApp
I sort of like the feature to edit sent messages. I can somehow tolerate, that some messages can get deleted by the sender at any time. I cannot tolerate at all, that one participant can remove an entire conversation. I think the only one of the above to not support the removal of an entire conversation is Signal.

Go lang: Compiling your Tool for Different Platforms
- https://golang.org/src/go/build/syslist.go
- https://pragprog.com/book/rggo/powerful-command-line-applications-in-go
I like it, that with Go lang you can cross-compile without significant effort and straight away. E.g. I can compile a tool for Linux or for Windows on the Mac.
