An Introduction to Critical Thinking, useful for undergraduate students, discusses critical thinking, relation between critical thinking and logic, evaluation of information and arguments, examines inferences and fallacies, and provides strategies to develop skills for thinking, reading and writing critically. It will help students develop their critical thinking faculties and to overcome personal prejudices and biases, the influence of social brainwashing, fears associated with free-thinking and egocentrism.

macOS AKA OSX domain-specific DNS servers (/etc/resolver)
If you VPN to work from home (or even VPN to home from work, you may have issues resolving hostnames.
It’s trivial to solve in macOS AKA OSX.
E.g.:
$ cat /etc/resolver/fritz.box
nameserver 10.0.4.1The server 10.0.4.1 (e.g. my fritz.box) will do the nameserving for the domain fritz.box, as soon as macOS can see the file.
I worried actually quite a while, until I found that solution. It’s very nice.
I actually have to access each local box with “.fritz.box” appended, but that’s not so bad.

This nice device was BJH’s 1st own MacBook at all. He bought it refurbished. Quite some while after not really using it, he noticed, the battery is weak, and the fan was too loud (for him).

They let me upgrade directly from Mojave (AKA 10.14) to Sonoma (AKA 14).
Until 2021 I was pretty much always pretty uptodate on my Macs and on my Synology DiskStations. But then a few young fools frightened me, and I got stuck for ages with outdated OS versions.
I finally had to upgrade my MacBook Pro, as a few essential packages do not run any longer resp. got announced to stop running soon:

At least I do not have to expect upgrade disasters as with Linux in the 199x and 200x. But still … – with macOS at one stage file systems other than /users were read only “by OS”, even sudo did not help any longer. How terrible that was.
