Win7: creating a directory on the local disk for personal use with permanent “full control”

Within the Windows environments of one of my customers, the team members are granted the right to acquire and keep the Administrator rights regarding a directory on the local disk for personal use (for keeping data, installing software, …). Here I attempt to describe, how to achieve this:

  • create a directory, e.g. c:user
  • within the menu of c:user select “Properties
  • select the “Security” tab
  • within “User Properties” WRT “Group or user names:” “Edit…”
  • within “Permissions for User” WRT “Group or user names:” “Add…” my Windows user account
  • having selected that user account check the cell in the row “Full control” and the column “Allow
  • and click “OK
